If it says funfetti, I will try it. I absolutely love cinnamon rolls and all the different variations - this was no exception. This recipe comes from Melissa's Cuisine - I think it's the very first recipe from Melissa's blog that I have made, but I am excited to try: Strawberry Cream Cheese Bread, Strawberry Fluff, and Mess-less S'mores, to name a few.
Recipe from Melissa's Cuisine
What you need:
For the rolls:
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 packet yeast (2 1/4 tsp.)
- 4 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 cup yellow cake mix
- 1/2 stick butter
- Brown sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup yellow cake mix
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 tbsp. milk
Sprinkle yeast over milk mixture and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Stir in 4 cups flour to form a sticky dough. Cover pan and let rise for an hour.
After dough has risen, stir in remaining 1/2 cup flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
Divide dough in half and roll out into a 18x12-inch rectangle on a floured surface.
Melt butter and pour half onto rolled out rectangle. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
Then add cake mix and sprinkles.
Roll up tightly and slice into rolls. Place in a greased pan. Repeat with other dough.
Let rise for 30 minutes. Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 minutes.
While the rolls are baking, mix together the icing ingredients.
After the rolls are cool, top with icing and more sprinkles.
